2013 Triathlon Show and other going’s on

As normal I am behind schedule in terms of keeping the website up-to-date. This is usually because I have been busy working, training or racing, but over the next few weeks I will try and get things back on track!

To begin with I should mention the Triathlon Show at Sandown Park which we attended in early March, something that is becoming almost an annual pilgrimage. As usual we had a nice time wandering around looking at high tech kit and trying to eat enough free samples so as not to need to buy lunch! It was also great to catch up with so many people including some of our sponsors and supporters such as: –

We also filled our weekend with a few other things including a visit to Jill’s parents, the 220 triathlon awards dinner and a trip to our friends Tom and Cagla to meet their little boy, Younus, which was fun! It was great to catch up with them all. Incidentally Tom used to ride the tandem with me when we were both at school back in Newcastle. He will remember fondly the 130 mile rond trip from Newcastle to Bamburgh (the long and hilliest way possible, of course) or his first 10 mile time trial when he was profusely sick just after halfway. He will also remember my sympathetic and kind-hearted approach to these situations…we still just over 22 minutes for that ’10’ on our ancient Hobbs tandem!

Oh, yeah, the awards: I was pleased to be presented with a nice cut glass trophy as male Paratriathlete of the year. Like the award I recieved at the British Triathlon dinner  in November, these things are really a reflection of a much wider team effort rather than individual endeavour – thanks everyone for your efforts in 2012!    It was slightly embarrassing that the announcr mentioned I was once in Byker Grove though!

 220 Awards 2013

Congratulations to Faye Maclelland who was crowned female Paratriathlete of the year and also to HUUB, who scooped the wetsuit of the year prize.
