Artic One Forward Motion Grants

Just a short post to say a massive thanks to Artic One who have kindly offered me one of their ‘Forward Motion’ grants from the latest round of funding provided by the foundation.

Artic One was set up in 2011 to coincide with Matt Kirby (one of the trustees) taking part in the Antarctic Half Marathon. The organisation promotes sports opportunities that are accessible to everyone and helps individual’s pursue their sporting goals through their grants system.

As a Para-Triathlete and cyclist) it can be quite costly attending events, as, on top of the standard costs any athlete has (equipment, race entries, travel, coaching etc,), I try to cover most of the Guide’s costs also. I’m happy to do this of course as the Guides/tandem pilots put in a lot of time and effort in and give up their own race opportunities more often than not. However having this extra support from Artic One truly does help a lot.

I’m not 100% sure of my schedule for 2017 yet, but I’m hoping to return to Artic One’s Paratriathlon festival at Eton Dorney in May or attend one of their other events. I really enjoyed racing at Eton this year with Nick Beer (even if the Photographer cut me out of one of the official photo’s – probably because Nick is a male model and let’s face it, I’m not!).
