Well done to my dad who has just received a lifetime award from Gateshead Harriers Athletics Club where he has been coaching for many years.

He has organised a ladies middle distance group at the club ever since I can remember so that must be about 25 years or so. During this period almost every week he organises harrier training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday nights. He often provides additional sessions for smaller groups on other days of the week and will pop up at any number of races to cheer on the athletes he coaches. Many of the athletes he has worked with have achieved high level performances including some in triathlon.

He has always been a keen runner himself and has taken part in various events including several additions of the Great North Run. Now 60 something the old knees are going a bit, but he still seems as enthusiastic as ever! He even ran a Parkrun PB recently!

As well as the trophy shown in the photo below, he was made a life membership of the club which I am sure hewill appreciate…maybe he will do another 20 years or so!
